Whew - this weekend was interesting to say the least. Saturday we had swim lessons in the morning and that went very well. Makena did the "all done" sign about 5 minutes from the end, since she was pretty insistent, we left lessons early. She was clearly cold and tired. After our shower I started to change her and in the process I took off her swim shoes and her little toes were blue. She was definitely cold. Good thing I brought a nice warm fleece outfit to change into. Since she was so tired I decided I could workout up north and we should head out right away. The drive went well and all went well at Grandma and Grandpa's . . . until the middle of the night. Makena wasn't feeling well, I presume because of the shots on Friday, and she was awake and crying from 1am to 5am. It made for a tough night for Jared and me.
Sunday was a nice Valentine's Day/Grandma's birthday. We had a fantastic lunch and Makena took some nice naps. She DID have a lot of catching up to do. We decided to leave in the early afternoon and we were glad we did since the roads started accumulating snow about 10 minutes from home. Makena was a completely different child once we got home. No more whining, crying, and ALL laughs and giggles. She was clearly glad to be home. Of course, we all like to be at home when we don't feel good.
Today started off well. She got up around 6:45 but stayed in bed talking to herself until 7:15. After some breakfast we watched some cartoons and played until it was time to go to the chiropractor. After that we headed out for some grocery shopping! I got us lots of yogurt, cheese, and veggies for another fun filled week of eating healthy! Speaking of healthy Makena has had a TON of asparagus in the last 2 days. Grandma had it for lunch yesterday and sent the leftovers home with us. She had some for supper last night and lunch today. Lunch was interesting since I think the only reason she woke up from her morning nap was because she was hungry. I ended up laying her back down after eating and she went right back to sleep. Oh, I hope she gets better soon.
