Weekend recap, then some stories:
We went up north for Jared's cousin's grad party. The whole weekend was rainy and gloomy, but Makena didn't mind. She just wanted to keep going to the party. Every time she was in she would ask if she could go to the party. HA. Silly girl. Makena also helped Jared and I plant some flowers in Grandpa's memorial garden. Matthew "helped" by sleeping in his carrier on my back. The rest of the weekend was just us hanging out. It was nice. We actually stayed until Monday since Jared hadn't been up there since Christmas.

Tuesday Katie came over and we got to see baby Audrey. She's so darn cute. Of course this visit ended with a fun adventure in my basement, which happens to be our laundry room. The tornado sirens went off just as Katie was getting ready to go. She didn't want to travel directly through the storm that we were watching on the radar and when the storm was almost past us the sirens went off. There were confirmed touch downs way too close for comfort. I HATE tornados ...
So let's tell stories. I'll start with the bad one (I like to end on happy notes):
Yesterday I was out with the kids all day and Jared texted to say he needed to go home and change before going to the Y. Okay, no prob. I will just poke around at some stores so Mk doesn't see daddy and freak out when he leaves right away .... As I'm turning left to go to the next store my phone rings and it's Jared. I figured he was just calling to let me know he was on his way home. He started the conversation off casually with, "Hey, where are you guys?". I didn't think anything of it since he knew we were out shopping. I told him and then he said I needed to come to the park and ride (PNR) because the car wouldn't start. UGH. Great, just what we need. So I turn around and head to the PNR. On my way I called my dad and gave him the diagnostics. He said it sounded like the battery, which was my first guess as well. I got there, we jumped the car and then we headed to Mills Fleet to buy a new battery. When we got home Jared installed the new purchase. It started fine this morning, so let's just hope that battery is dead and that there isn't something that is draining the battery ....
Another bad:
Matthew likes to bite my shoulder. It isn't a little nibble either. He BITES and leaves marks through my clothes. He just did it a little while ago and is sitting on the floor after a firm "no". I feel so bad when all he wants is to be held.
On a good note, I had mentioned that I went shopping with the kids yesterday. I made several stops: Pet store for "special" dog food, grocery store, clothing stores (I needed a new dress and am now IN LOVE with DressBarn), Ulta, and Old Navy. While at Old Navy I was perusing the clearance racks and came across a pair of jeans marked down to $.97. WHAT? I looked at the size on the tag - not my size, but the tag on the jeans WAS my size. BONUS. I didn't try them on and just purchased them along with the other things we had picked out. When I got home I looked at the receipt and after my coupons were applied, I paid about $.65 for those jeans.
Matthew also started on cubed veggies yesterday. He has been eating puffs for about a week and loves to feed himself so I thought, what's the worst that can happen? So, I baked some sweet potato and cubed it for him. He LOVED it. He was taking a long time though, since it was so slippery, so I took out the spoon and started to feed it to him. He ended up grabbing the spoon, that was still in my hand, and SHOVING it into his mouth. I don't mean just gently pulled, I mean SHOVED. It was SO funny. I knew that sweet potato was his favorite but I guess I didn't realize how much he truly loved it.

Another interesting tidbit: Matthew can army crawl now. I had him outside my bathroom door during my shower today and when I was drying off he was army crawling into the bathroom. It wasn't a fast event by any means, but he's slowly figuring it out. He half rolls onto his side, then reaches out in front of him and rolls onto his stomach while pulling forward a bit. It's pretty funny. I'll try to get some video of it. He's currently rolling and crawling around on the floor in the kitchen (he just got done dining on more sweet potato).
I also have some other VERY exciting news, but that has to wait for just a bit.
