My poor boy

Matthew has been sick since August 3rd.  That's right twenty days now.  It's only getting worse.  It started with just a runny nose.  I thought no biggie, just some allergens, teething, or a little virus.  Then he got that nasty diaper rash on top of that.  The diaper rash is basically gone, just waiting on the last of the blister spots to heal up.  Now, that runny nose has moved into his chest as well. He just has a the biggest nastiest cold.  He coughs, cries, and then that causes him to cry more. He seems to be in such pain.  Yesterday I had to start giving him tylenol/ibuprofen to take the pain away.  It really helped, until 6 hours had gone by. Then he was a nightmare again.  Poor boy. I just want this to clear up so I can have my happy baby back.

In other news: Makena has re-named Annabelle to Marabelle (I saw it coming, but it's now official). Oh oh oh, Makena had a nasty bloody nose this morning while in bed.  There was blood all over her pillow, her pillow allergen cover, her sheets, and her blanket.  I'm hoping I found it all soon enough that the blood isn't set in. It's now a waiting game since it's all in the washing machine.

This past weekend I got bored with our backyard and wanted to find a solution to buying an entire swingset.  I was looking around and decided to try hanging the baby swing from a branch that goes across the play area.  It worked like a charm and Makena LOVES to swing again.  I then got crazy and added a couple of other play items to the area: a tire swing and a hanging bar. Makena spent over 4 hours outside yesterday.  She was a tired girl and I loved it.  The best part is that Matthew can swing while she is in her sandbox, or doing something else.  Now that the swing isn't under the deck he can see what's going on and doesn't get cranky. Of course he could just be so tired from being sick that he doesn't care, but I truly think he likes the swing since he looks SO content in it.

Saturday I was able to bring Makena out shopping with me (no Matthew) and she was so well behaved. We didn't really buy anything, but it was nice to be out with such a good girl.  I was so happy with her.  We haven't done that since Matthew was born, grocery shopping doesn't count.

Makena is so excited for school to start too.  We had to drop some paperwork off last week and she said, "Mama, you drop me off and leave, okay?".  I was glad to hear that she was excited to go, but not so thrilled that she was willing to get rid of me so easily.  She was also disappointed that we didn't stay longer or go into the sanctuary.  I think she thought it was church day.  You'd think she'd notice we were the only ones there and get a clue, but she was just so focused on going to the "church" side of the building.  Basically, I don't think we're going to have a problem in a couple of weeks when she actually starts school.  She's pretty excited.

Here are some pictures:

The pony wanted to go down the slide

The area used to be just the slide and sandbox!
