What a day! It has actually been a wonderful one. We started our morning a little later than normal since Makena decided this would be a perfect morning to fall back to sleep in my bed once she came in to wake me up. I couldn't agree more so we both slept for another hour. After that we got ready for our day and headed out to a play date in White Bear Lake. It was a good one. She met some new kids and played very nicely. A mom of a 3 year old wanted to know how I taught her her letters already (her daughter didn't know them yet). I was pretty proud of my girl! On the way home Makena snacked on a pb&j and a glass of milk. She got to play in the basement while I made us some mac and cheese for lunch. She ate a TON of it. I kept it off the menu for a while since she had stopped liking it. I think she overdosed on it for a bit there. Anyway, after some more play time she headed up for what is now a 2 (and still going) hour nap.
In the meantime I managed to break a couple of toes. I was hurrying to get my ringing phone so it wouldn't wake Makena and I SLAMMED my foot into the couch foot. I heard two loud cracks and I'm pretty sure it was my foot and not the couch. I was able to wobble upstairs to get my phone and get back downstairs again; I wanted to silence my phone so if it rang again it wouldn't wake her. It's been about 10 minutes and the initial pain and throbbing faded, but now my toes are warm and I moved them with my hand and they started to throb again. UGH. It's not the first time I've broken my toes, but why does it have to hurt so bad? I went to the bathroom a bit ago and it hurts to put weight on them. It will be interesting to see how this goes once Makena wakes up. :)
On the afternoon agenda: nothing. And I like it. I don't even know what to do for supper. All I know is that I want apple crisp, and I want apple crisp NOW! But I don't have any. I don't want to make one myself either, that just isn't as delicious as when someone else has done all the hard work and all I have to do is enjoy!! Cub Foods carries a frozen apple crisp, but the topping is funky and not like what I had growing up, so I don't like it. Of course it's been almost a year since I've had that one, but I'm sure the company didn't change their recipe.
Yesterday us gals drove Putz (my dad's dog) to Albertville to give her back to him. We were in the outlet's parking lot but didn't do ANY shopping. hmmm. A true sign that I am not a shopping kind of gal. We also played a lot in the basement and read lots of stories. What else is there to do on a yucky rainy day anyway?
This weekend's plans: there is a Curious George storytime at a bookstore in St. Paul and Jared has agreed to take a break from studying to go with us to it. George himself is going to make an appearance. Makena will LOVE it. I'm pretty excited to bring her. I'm sure there will also be lots of park time and other play on the agenda. We have to amuse ourselves somehow when daddy is locked in his room studying. I have some really good grocery coupons that expire tomorrow too, so a trip to Cub is in the works as well. Of course that means I need to make the menu for the week so I know what to buy and don't have to drive there 3 more times next week. It's not a far drive, but it's so annoying to go there when you have to haul along a 2 year old. If I could go in/out by myself, I wouldn't mind going every day.
Cloth diapering update: we had 2 days where she told me about her poops so she went on the potty, followed by 2 days of not saying anything. Oh well. It is going well otherwise. We have enough diapers to go about 3 days before having to wash and that is wonderful. Of course I ended up doing the family laundry yesterday so I didn't really get that laundry break like I was hoping for. Tomorrow though, tomorrow. Tonight is the night for diapers. They're easy to do, but I just like to wait until the last one of the day is in the bag so I don't have one lonely diaper hanging around while the others are getting washed. Tonight is also bath night, so I may get to start laundry early since daddy likes to sneak upstairs and start that early some nights.
Okay, enough rambling.
