"I wuv dirt"

We (the kids and I) got back late last night from visiting Grandma and Grandpa up north. Girl had a wonderful time being a Grandpa’s girl and Boy decided he was going to start teething full throttle. Let’s back up a bit though and start with Monday.

Grandma and Grandpa actually came to our house to visit before Grandpa’s allergist appointment.  Girl had such a fun time and I decided that if she was in a good mood after her nap we would go and spend some more time with them.  I am more apt to leave for a while when Jared is out of state for work (which he was). I started packing when Girl was sleeping and I didn’t get much done before she woke up. Go figure.  I started a movie for her and since she was being a good girl I decided we would head up.  Once we got up there I brought Girl for a walk in the woods.  She was excited to see deer and rabbit poop along with deer tracks. Her FAVORITE thing was climbing on top of rocks and balancing. I was also teaching her different plants and when I found a thistle we decided to play out the “sprinting thistle” scene from Tinkerbell. The running from the thistles was actually my way to get her to hurry up. When we got back to the house it was already past her bedtime.  Neither of us were hungry and I hadn’t looked at a clock since we got up there. OOPS.  Well, I fed her then put her to bed.

Look close, Girl and Grandpa are both in this picture!
Girl told Grandpa how much she "wuvs" dirt, sticks, rocks, basically anything she saw!
Tuesday started off with some pancakes and then was followed up by some outside time with Grandpa.  She spent all non-outside time getting anyone that would listen to play Barbies, games, markers, play-doh, and any other toy she could find. After lunch and a nap I brought the kids for a stroller ride.  It’s so peaceful to get out up there.  We didn’t see anything special, but I did let Girl walk back home from the end of the driveway.  It took Pokey McJones 10 minutes to get back to the house.  When I told her to go in the house she ran up to Uncle Tim and Aunt Teresa’s house so she didn’t have to go inside. Luckily I had planned for such an occasion and after a brief visit we were still home in time for supper!

LOVING that she was allowed to have a cover on her cup!
Just playing!
Wednesday was a bit cooler out but Girl still spent a long time outside with Grandpa. If you haven’t seen the trend yet, I’ll make it REALLY obvious.  SHE WAS GRANDPA’S TAIL THE WHOLE TIME. Boy was just being a baby this whole time, nothing too exciting, but fun to look at! After some examination I noticed that he has his to bottom teeth making their way in.  I figured there had to be SOME reason for all his grumpiness.  I don’t think anybody believes me when I say he doesn’t normally cry as much as they hear.  He’s usually a pretty laid back kid.  I even brike down and gave him some Tylenol in the late afternoon. It actually seemed to work. He wasn’t wanting to eat (the only way he knows to comfort himself) every half hour. We also got to see Grandma June (the kids’ great Grandma). Grandma made a nice supper of tator-tot hotdish and a bunch of sides and dessert.  It was SO good. Girl even talked to Grandma June a bit.  It’s nice to see her come out of her shell towards “newer” people.  She didn’t do the best job eating, but at least she ate something.

He refuses to keep his socks on.  He will do anything to be naked!  HAHAHA
After I got all packed up we got a bunch of delicious leftovers and headed home.  We got home really late.  I tried really hard to keep Girl awake once we got close to home so she could see her daddy.  She was successful!  She was SO excited to see him. He read her the bedtime story and put her to bed.  I’m pretty sure she was asleep within minutes of hitting her pillow. It was a good few days for Girl.

Today we headed to the hardware store and I bought some clothesline. Below you can see the makeshift clothesline on my deck. I wrapped it around the poles and pulled tight. I have 3 lines going across the deck. LOL It's so ghetto. It works though, so I don't care.  I can easily add more lines or take it down when I'm done too. I want it strictly for diapers. I MAY add some hooks to some trees and then have it down in the yard, but I haven't decided for sure.  If it's on the deck, it's easier to check on things. Also, we play down in the yard, not on the deck. So many things to take in to account.  Decisions decisions. If I put it on the trees, I just may put other clothes on it and save even more electricity. I like the idea of saving money!!
