milestone for the baby book.
Yesterday is when this one happened. I forgot to tell you about it then, terrible me. I'm over the guilt!
Boy got his first "real" food. I don't count the oatmeal as real food by the way. So I steamed up a carrot and then used the new baby bullet to make a puree. It was SO easy to do! Anyway, he ate it like it was the last food on Earth. He gobbled it right up. He then finished his lunch off with some milk. Well ... later that night I welcomed a diaper rash. Okay, so after doing a little research carrots are NOT a good food to start with. Oops. I probably should have researched a bit BEFORE just grabbing the first veggie I found in the house.
So, bring on the next day (after a terrible night). He was rash free and was able to work that carrot through his system. YUCKO on the other end. bleck. So ... the kids and I headed to Cub for some new "baby friendly" veggies. We purchased a couple of organic sweet potatoes and an organic squash. If I'm going to be making baby food I figure I should make organic! So lunch rolled around today and I heated up a potato while Girl ate her lunch. Once the spud cooled I made it into a delicious puree. It tasted good, mmmm. One potato made 7 servings! I was able to separate the puree into 6 single serving containers that came with the bullet and use the leftovers to feed Boy. He gobbled it up. He was kind of mad when it was gone. I topped off his tummy with milk. Hopefully tonight he is rash free. If he IS rash free, we will continue with the potato until it's gone and then try the squash. I'm also on the hunt for organic peas (fresh or frozen). I didn't realize it would be such a hard thing to find!
The agenda for the rest of the day: lounge around enjoying life! We already spent a lot of time playing outside. Girl got to do whatever she wanted while I raked the sticks and leaves up from the backyard. I ended up with 2 1/2 large black bags of debris. Of course Girl "helped" me with my little project off and on as well. Her helping consisted of grabbing some leaves/sticks/dog poo (gross I know) from one pile and bringing it to another pile, leaving a trail of leaves behind her. Gee, thanks baby! Of course I told her she was being VERY helpful and I appreciated her willingness to help me ... I was sure to wash her hand VERY thoroughly when we were done.
Now she's enjoying her after nap movie and snack. Her selection of the day is Tangled. It's a pretty cute movie. It took about 6 playings before I finally saw the whole thing. I usually end up doing chores while she's watching a movie. Well, I am going to take care of Boy who just woke up! :)
